Can't Roll Back
Future Rock
Unreleased - From forthcoming ambient/experimental album on Audio Dregs label

"Few albums or artists can start with such a broad palette and leave such an indelible mark." - Lost At Sea

"Retro-futurism has its pleasures, sure, but it's satisfying to hear artists melding genres in search of the real deal, especially when the combination is as exquisitely constructed as it can be here." - Pitchfork

"where a lot of electronic music can seem distant and cold, Strategy is warm, accessible, moreish, and compelling. One of the best records I've heard this year." - Stylus

"Future Rock is the rare record that needs no explanation and sounds exquisite from the start." - Brainwashed

REANIMATOR
Originally from Portland, the deep-electronic/experimental techno duo Reanimator are now nomads, splitting their time between Brooklyn, Asheville, New Orleans, and now New England. Combining a punk rock ethic with a totally fresh approach to thrown-out musical gear, the band's music references everything from Pan Sonic-styled minimalizing, to the rhythmic pummel of American electronic noise artists like Yellow Swans, to nuanced polyrhthmics that almost hint at Konono No. 1 styled syncopation. The band utilize their analogue gear to massive effect, improvising through dubbed-out echoes and machine music untethered from the conservative legacy of Techno. You might call them "7-on-the-floor" music, truly futuristic visionary beat music from America's underground.

Special Powers

"with Special Powers the duo have cheated from obscurity one of the finest potting-shed techno records I've heard. If such a genre, in fact, actually exists…" - Jon Dale, Dusted Magazine

"Reanimator's music exudes a vitality that clearly distances it from Pan Sonic's far more contained and colder style." - Textura

"these eight songs, bleating and throbbing, crunching and droning, are incredibly vital — a "warts 'n all" vision of minimal techno in which error and chance lend humanity to lurching, off-kilter rhythms, and a reminder of what minimal techno has lost as it's gone all streamlined."
- Philip Sherburne, Earplug
