REANIMATOR

The mysterious duo known as Reanimator produce deep, electro-mechanical,
DIY-fi electronic music together when they are not touring the USA as part of the
multi-instrumental postpunk group IPCP (Load Records.) Originating in the early
00's in Portland, Oregon, the band now split their time between New Orleans,
Asheville, North Carolina, Brooklyn, and points in between. Their Community Library
release is their first ever despite their long history- when the band managed to escape
the Hurricane Katrina disaster with the entire catalogue of original 1/4" tapes intact
(along with the rest of the Red Alert Works studio masters collection), we coincidentally
got back in touch, and decided this was an omen that the music needed to be released.
Reanimator's dynamic, stark, and oddly private, personal music was formed during a
period of intense discovery within the Portland electronic music community. At that time
participants from niche music scenes were rapidly crossing over into various other areas.
Reanimator were no exception, bringing a wealth of DIY recording knowledge, and a
hardcore/experimental aesthetic into fresh terrain of techno, electro, and dub. The band's
music, though directly inspired by minimalists like Pan Sonic, is an intensely focused
journey into the world of polyrhythm, jacked-up drum machines, adapted test-tone oscillators,
and a North Portland basement PA system. The music's relevance is perhaps even more
important today as perfectionism and programming become increasingly streamlined within
an elite, club-driven minimal techno system.
