DJ C ![]() DJ C (AKA Jake Trussell) tracks have recently appeared on labels such as Death$ucker and Shockout, and he has produced remixes for luminaries like MIA and Gregory Isaacs, but it's his work as curator and producer for his fantastic Mashit label first brought him to our attention as one of North America's preeminent underground producers. Coming right out of the gates with a style that mashes jungle, breaks, reggae, and even incorporating tricks from his previous, ambient-IDM project, EOSS, DJ C is at the forefront of the international, post post post modern genre-mashing movement. Along with comrade DJ Flack, he co-founded Boston's long-running Beat Research, experimental party music nights. He and Strategy initially collided while sharing sides on Shockout releases. DJ C's cultural mixups fit perfectly with ComLib's rigorous ethic of smashing the musical past into the future and combining unlikely styles into compelling new forms.
