Our label was launched in Spring 2005. We are located in Portland, Oregon, Cascadia, our home city.
As of 2009, We are an independent label.

Our story begins with a monthly club night we started in January, 2003, called Community
Library Club, hosted by resident DJs P. Disco (aka Strategy) and Brokenwindow (aka Solenoid).
The club night featured "themed" DJ-sets in which musics from different styles and eras were
combined based on thematic or topical similarities.

From that notion, the label idea was born- an archive of artists who may differ in terms of genre,
but might subtly resemble one another in their approach/ethic/process and overall sound. What brings
them all together? A raw sonic sensibility, equal parts irreverence and historical consideration, a
tendency to combine original soundmaking with overt flirtations to known styles..these are some of the
threads. Most of all, Community Library bands are dedicated to their community and reach across genre
boundaries to find common ground.

We release music in hard copy (vinyl, compact disc) formats and now, virtual file formats (mp3, etc.) .

Demos: we strongly encourage thoughtful demo submissions. Please explore our catalogue
before submitting. We'll reply if we have time and like your work. Please submit materials on
CDR or other hard-copy formats as this gives us the best listening experience for us to get
to know your work. Forwarding MySpace links is strongly discouraged. Take the extra time
and effort to help us know your music concretely and in detail.
